MES Human Rights Policy
Purpose
Middle East Security (MES) is dedicated to respecting, protecting, and promoting internationally recognized human rights across all operations.
This policy applies to all employees, management, contractors, and suppliers at every site where MES operates.
Our approach is guided by Egyptian Labour Law No. 12/2003, ILO Core Conventions, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Code of Conduct Association (ICoCA) standards.
1. Equal Employment Opportunities
MES ensures that all employees have equal opportunities in hiring, promotion, training, and working conditions—regardless of race, color, nationality, gender, religion, disability, or age.
Discrimination, harassment, and victimization are strictly prohibited. Employment decisions are based solely on merit, qualifications, and professional competence.
2. Prohibition of Slavery and Forced Labour
MES categorically forbids all forms of forced labour, servitude, or human trafficking.
Key commitments include:
• Employment is voluntary and freely chosen.
• Employees have the right to resign with due notice.
• MES never withholds identity documents.
• Wage deductions are limited to lawful and voluntary agreements.
• Forced overtime or disciplinary wage deductions are prohibited.
MES conducts site audits and awareness programs to prevent risks of bonded or forced
labour.
3. Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Gender-Based Violence
MES maintains a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of sexual exploitation, abuse, and
harassment (SEA/GBV).
The company promotes a respectful, safe, and inclusive workplace.
Prohibited behaviors include verbal, visual, physical, or digital harassment, as well as coercion or
exploitation.
Employees are encouraged to report any misconduct confidentially through established channels, with full protection from retaliation.
MES provides regular awareness training and enforces strict disciplinary measures, including termination and legal action.
4. Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)
MES considers the protection of health, safety, and the environment a core corporate responsibility.
We are committed to:
• Providing safe and healthy working conditions for all staff and visitors.
• Preventing injuries and occupational hazards through risk assessments and training.
• Promoting environmental sustainability by reducing waste, conserving resources, and ensuring compliance with environmental laws.
Our EHS culture is embedded in every level of decision-making and is continuously reviewed and improved through audits and staff feedback.
5. Ethical Use of Force
The use of force is never a routine option at MES—it is permitted only in cases of imminent and real threats where all non-violent alternatives have been exhausted.
• Force must be proportionate and controlled.
• Every incident must be reported and documented immediately.
• Any misuse of force results in disciplinary and legal action.
This approach ensures the protection of life, dignity, and public trust in MES’s professional integrity.
6. Prohibition of Torture and Inhumane Treatment
MES absolutely forbids torture or any cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.
Employees must:
• Treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
• Refrain from using physical or psychological force.
• Report any violations immediately to management or the Compliance Department.
7. Regulation of Apprehension
MES personnel do not have authority to detain individuals.
In rare cases involving direct threats or criminal acts:
1. Only the minimum necessary force may be used.
2. Apprehended persons must be treated humanely.
3. They must be handed over promptly to competent Egyptian authorities.
4. All incidents are to be fully documented and reviewed.
8. Implementation and Accountability
• All MES staff receive regular training on human rights, ethics, and lawful conduct.
• Managers are accountable for ensuring compliance and oversight.
• Reports and violations are handled through the MES Grievance Mechanism, ensuring
confidentiality and protection for whistleblowers.
• Violations lead to disciplinary measures or legal action.
9. Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
MES reviews its Human Rights Policy annually, incorporating lessons from audits, grievances, and stakeholder feedback.
We maintain transparent communication with clients, employees, and communities to continually improve our human rights performance.
Our Vision
By embedding these principles into all aspects of its operations, Middle East Security reaffirms its commitment to protecting human dignity, ensuring fairness, and upholding justice.
We believe that respect for human rights is not only a moral obligation but also a cornerstone of professional excellence and ethical leadership.
